Who of you has travelled somewhere all alone before??
What did you do to calm yourself down from any nervousness and excitement? Also what do you usually do during travels to pass the time?
Do you get into conversations with other people usually?

Oooh good topic! I travel alone loads for my judging. In fact, I already have 8 flights scheduled where I am travelling alone (and this is just until March!). To be honest, I wish more were for fun, but last year I did travel by myself for fun and one of the above flights is for fun. If the flight is for fun, I am excited about it and don't even bother calming myself. If it is for judging (or business), I usually am nervous and feel unprepared so I go over all my notes until after midnight and still wonder if I am right. I don't sleep much prior to a flight anyway, but I have gotten better at dealing with take offs and landings since I fly so much. As far as chatting up my fellow passengers, well I am very outgoing so people tend to start the convos. When I sit down in my seat, I will always say hi to the person next to me. How they respond is the way I end up acting on the plane. If they nod and turn their face back into their magazine, I pull out my ipod and book of puzzles and know I am not talking much. If they are looking in the Sky Mall and announce they want Footie Pajamas, then I know we are going to get along great and I wont get a song in on my Ipod the whole trip. This is what happened to me on my flight home last weekend. This guy announced that he wanted footie pjs and I started laughing because I saw them and wanted them too (they have penguin ones!!). I ended up sitting next to him. His wife and kid were in the seats across the aisle from him and I think she spent the entire flight sleeping or being embarassed. They had to be up at 1:30 am to make the flight. I had to be up at 3:45 am for the flight. Neither of us had much sleep the night before, so we were real sleep deprived. Well this guy and me were totally slap happy ;D We were both reading the sky mall and laughing at some of the stuff in there. I mean REALLY laughing. The fight attendant was obviously a former SS officer and was so rude she was actually funny too! So we laughed and laughed at her too. I asked her for Kleenex because I laughed so hard I was crying. She gave me this disgusted look like I was the biggest pig in the universe and handed me 3 bags of PEANUTS!! Of course this dude and I LAUGHED some more Oh the funniest thing in the Sky Mall magazine is the "traction device." *starts to laugh again*
